REGENERATION PRESUPPOSES DEPRAVITY

Non-existent spiritual life cannot give being to itself. The new creature, therefore, cannot be the product of natural power.

The sinner is not regenerated by the combined efforts of God and man. There is no ''I will, if you will'' in Regeneration.

The day of Regeneration is solely the time of God's love and power [Ezekiel 16].

The ability to believe is not produced by the fire of man's own kindling.
A knowledge of spiritual things, in a natural way, only increases spiritual blindness [John 3;4].

In John 3, Nicodemus sat in subjective, not objective darkness. Darkness is the absence of light.
Objective darkness consists in the want of those means, whereby men may be enlightened in the knowledge of God.
Subjective darkness connotes the disabilty to comprehend light. It can be only dispersed by the
Holy Spirit in Regeneration and Calling [I Peter 2;9; Ephesians 5;8; John 8;12].

Nicodemus, as all un-regenerated men need the subjective light, given in regeneration to see the
Kingdom of God

Paul W. Foltz
